Cameroon Catalyst is a volunteer organisation run by 20 civil engineering students at the University of Southampton. The organisation was set-up to design, construct and fund a £50,000 multi-purpose community building in a severely underdeveloped community called Bambouti in Cameroon, Africa.
The Aim
The aim of the project is to design and construct a community centre in the severely underdeveloped village of Bambouti, Eastern Cameroon. The community centre will provide a medical centre, educational facilities and grain stores. The project will be entirely self-funded through sponsorship and fundraising.
The Team
20 enthusiastic and committed civil engineering students in their third and fourth year of study at the University of Southampton will work together with members of the local community in Cameroon to ensure the centre is built to budget and within the restricted time-frame.
